5-SPOKE/MINILITE style/COMPETITION/RALLY

The Stag is eminently suitable for the fitting of alternative wheels. The "traditional classic" MINILITE style is by far the most popular because it looks beautiful, is a traditional design and is so well suited to the Stag. Not only that, but you can improve the handling with the use of more modern lower profile tyres by 'inching up' to 15" dia. or even 16". But you have got to know what you are doing. the correct overall diameter must be adhered to or you change your gearing and spoil the looks. Too often I have seen tyres fitted to Stags that are far too big and look ridiculous. PHONE me for advice, I know what I'm talking about! I have several different manufacturer's wheels to offer at competitive prices and NOBODY knows the Stag like I do, so I can tell you the right tyres to fit as well. 3-piece wheels consist of a computer spun inner and outer rim and a cast centre.

Why split rims? Well apart from the fact that they look 'the biz' they can be tailor-made with any offset, whereas with the one-piece wheels you have to take what the manufacturer has on offer. This choice is useful for example when fitting my BMW rear suspension/transmission transplant as due to the BMW's wider track (2") a much bigger offset is needed to keep the track standard. Otherwise the wheels would stick out too much and there wouldn't be enough clearance.

I will not be beaten on price by anybody on my wheels provided the competition are quoting their normal catalogue price, i.e. not a loss leader, 'special' or 'sale' price. The 'Minilite' style is the most popular for the Stag and is the definitive 'classic car' wheel, originally introduced for the Mini way back. It looks great and is extremely popular on all MG and classic Triumph models, TR's, etc.

The KN 'Minilite' is called the "Minator" and the Image Wheels 3-piece split-rim is the "RM1".
